Patients Know Best (PKB) – Our new online patient portal

We are gradually introducing Patients Know Best (PKB) as our new online patient system. In the future, this will allow us to securely share parts of your health information with you digitally for appointments or stays at our MSEFT hospitals.

PKB is integrated with the NHS App, which makes it easy for you to access your health information whenever and from wherever you like. Eventually, we hope to share more information with you digitally, such as upcoming appointment details, in-patient discharge summaries and test results, but this will take some time to deliver. If you wish to, you will also be able to securely share your PKB information digitally with those who are helping care for you, such as your GP, pharmacist, family members, carers, or anyone else that is supporting you. You can stop sharing your information whenever you choose.

Using the portal is entirely your choice. Whether you choose to use it or not, the quality of care you receive from us will remain the same and we will continue to communicate with you in the same way that we do currently. Rest assured, PKB complies with all national standards for health data security. It also undergoes rigorous testing. You can read more about how your data is stored and managed at Privacy Policy - what information do we collect and use

Launching the new patient portal

In preparation for the system to go live, patients of MSEFT aged 16 years and older who have used our services within the past three years will have their demographic information uploaded to the PKB system from Thursday 18 April; that’s their name, date of birth, gender and NHS number.

If you have already registered with PKB or used the system previously with another healthcare provider, you will receive auto-generated email notifications from PKB as soon as new information is added to your record by us. Emails come from no-reply-uk@patientsknowbest.com address and explain why they are being sent so that they are not considered spam.

It's of utmost importance that we maintain accurate and up-to-date records for our patients. Please contact mse.pkb@nhs.net if you come across any inaccuracies in your records or if you have any questions. We ask that you include your NHS number in this email so that we can identify you in our databases.

Access to PKB

You can access PKB via the NHS App using your NHS login, or through the online portal using any web browser.

While we're working on adding more information to the system, you can get started setting up your PKB account and navigating its features. These include manually inputting your own data, tracking your medications and allergies, and logging your health measurements, and much more.

If you haven’t got a PKB account, you can do so by visiting https://access.login.nhs.uk/enter-email.
